1611 Reader: Privacy Policy
The 1611 Reader app for Android, iPhone and Windows, published by Veiled Lamb Media LLC
Last updated: October 13, 2026
1. The short version
The 1611 Reader collects nothing about you. There is no account, no sign-up, no advertising and no analytics or tracking code in the app. The whole Bible is stored on your phone, so reading, searching and asking the Scriptures all happen on the device. What you highlight, bookmark or write stays on your phone unless you choose to move it.
This page covers the app only (about the app). The website, kylelauriano.com, has its own privacy policy.
2. Who we are
The app is published by Veiled Lamb Media LLC (“we,” “us”), the maker of kylelauriano.com, The King Is Coming Show and Beyond the Looking Glass. Questions about this policy: use the contact form.
3. What stays on your phone
Your highlights, bookmarks, notes, reading plans and streak, settings, recent questions, and a simple count of which screens you used (kept for a future “my reading” screen) are stored only in the app’s storage on your device. We never receive them. Deleting the app deletes them, unless you made a backup (see section 4).
4. Backups you control
Backup file. You can export everything you made to one file and import it on a new phone. The file goes wherever you send it; we never see it.
Your phone’s own backup. So a lost or replaced phone does not lose your notes, the app keeps a copy of what you made in your phone’s standard backup: Android Backup to your Google account, and iCloud on iPhone. That copy is handled by Google or Apple under your own account and their privacy policies; it never passes through us. You can turn these backups off in your phone’s settings.
5. When the app uses the internet
Reading needs no connection. The app goes online only when you ask it to:
- Narrated audio. When you play a chapter read aloud by a narrator, the recording streams from the Internet Archive (archive.org), which receives the request like any web page visit. The phone-voice reading works offline and sends nothing.
- Links to the website and YouTube. Pages the app does not carry open in your phone’s browser. From then on the website’s own policy, or YouTube’s, applies.
- Store review. After you have used the app for a while, it may ask Google Play or the App Store to show their own rating prompt. Any rating you give goes to the store, not to us.
6. Notifications
Verse of the day reminder. If you turn it on, the reminder is scheduled on your phone itself. No server is involved.
New episode alerts. These are off unless you turn them on. If you do, your phone receives an anonymous device token from Google’s Firebase Cloud Messaging (on iPhone, through Apple’s push service), and the app subscribes that token to the “new episodes” channel. The token is not linked to your name, email or anything you read, and we keep no list of subscribers. Turning the alerts off unsubscribes the token.
7. The Windows app
Everything above holds on a computer too, with these differences. What you make is stored in the app’s folder on your computer, and there is no automatic cloud copy: the backup file in section 4 is how you move it. Reminders (the verse of the day and reading plans) are Windows notifications scheduled on the computer; while a reminder is on, the app keeps running in the system tray and starts when you sign in to Windows, and turning the reminder off stops both. There are no new episode alerts and no store rating prompt on Windows. Reading aloud uses the voices installed in Windows and works offline. The app checks for nothing in the background and sends nothing on its own; links open in your web browser.
8. What we do not do
- No account, sign-up or email address is needed for anything in the app.
- No advertising, no ad identifiers and no third-party analytics or tracking code.
- We do not sell, rent or share personal information, because the app does not collect any.
- We do not track you across other apps or websites.
9. Permissions
The app asks for notification permission only when you turn on a reminder or episode alerts. It does not ask for your location, contacts, camera, microphone or photos. Sharing a verse as an image hands the picture to the share sheet you choose.
10. Children
The app is for a general audience and collects no personal information from anyone, children included.
11. Your rights
We hold no personal data from the app, so there is nothing for us to access, correct or delete. To erase everything the app stored, delete the app (and, if you want, its copy in your phone’s backup). For anything else, use the contact form.
12. Changes to this policy
If the app ever changes what it does with information, this page will change first and the date above will show it.
