Understanding God's Call

Every believer has a general calling — to love God, love others, and make disciples. But many also sense a specific calling to vocational ministry, missions, marketplace ministry, or a particular sphere of influence. This guide helps you distinguish between general and specific callings, and provides a biblical framework for discernment. "For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance" (Romans 11:29).

Seven Marks of a Genuine Calling

How do you know if God is calling you? This section identifies seven biblical markers: a persistent inner conviction, confirmation from mature believers, gifting that matches the calling, opportunities that align, a willingness to suffer for it, peace that transcends circumstances, and fruit that follows obedience. Each marker is examined through Scripture and real-life examples.

Testing & Responding

A calling must be tested in community — through counsel from elders, confirmation through circumstances, and refinement through small steps of obedience. The guide covers common obstacles (fear, inadequacy, timing), how to prepare while you wait, and the courage required to step out when God says "go."
