The Little Season

Revelation 20 · 12 Parts · Documentary Companion

A sources paper gathering and annotating the primary texts, historical records, and academic literature behind the amillennial reading of Revelation 20. This paper shows the receipts — every claim traced back to a text you can examine independently.

“This is a sources paper, not a sermon. Its purpose is to put the documentary foundation of the ‘little season’ teaching in one place so that any reader — sympathetic or skeptical — can trace each claim back to a text that can be examined independently.”

Six Pillars of Evidence

01

Scripture: The Primary Biblical Witness

Every passage appealed to in the little-season framework, grouped by function: foundational text (Rev. 20:1-10), Satan’s binding, Christ’s present reign, the first resurrection as spiritual rebirth, gospel to all nations, and deception in the final season.

02

The Theological Tradition

How the amillennial reading became orthodox Christianity for over a thousand years — from Tyconius’s breakthrough reinterpretation through Augustine’s City of God to the medieval consensus that shaped Western civilization.

The Legal Record: Codes, Councils, and Canon Law

The Theodosian Code, Council of Elvira, Charlemagne’s Saxon Capitulary, and the Inquisition — comprehensive legal systems suppressing paganism as evidence of millennial rule in action.

Imperial & Demographic History

From ~1,000 followers in 40 AD to the majority religion of the Roman Empire by 400 AD, spanning from Britain to China by 800 AD — the unprecedented expansion understood as fulfillment of Matthew 24:14.

The Architectural Witness

Medieval cathedrals deliberately designed as physical representations of the Kingdom of Heaven on earth. Every element — soaring vaults, luminous stained glass — was theological assertion that Christ reigned already.

The Post-1500 Turn

Reformation, revolution, and the modern age. What changed after the millennium ended — and how the markers of Satan’s release map onto the last five centuries of world history.

A Note on Honest Disagreement

The classical amillennial framework is historic Christian orthodoxy. The specific 500–1500 AD dating is a particular reading, not consensus. This paper marks that boundary clearly so you can evaluate each pillar at its own standard of evidence.

Where I'm honest with you

Some of what you'll read here is supported by mainstream scholarship and peer-reviewed research. Some of it is my conviction — what I believe Scripture and the evidence point to, but which the academic world does not accept. I've marked which is which. The rows marked ✗ above are conviction, not established fact. Test everything like a Berean: "These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so" (Acts 17:11, KJV).

"And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison." — Revelation 20:7 (KJV)
